Between Shades of Gray
Though the whole book you are afraid for the characters, who will live and who will die. Because you know in this setting, someone and probably a lot of people will die. I felt for all the characters, I just can’t imagine what it would have been like to be in that situation. I adore the main character Lina and her family. She matures a lot though the story and she will stay with you as you finish the book. There was a romance element between her and a boy, but it was a small part of it. And I don’t mind it. I think it is wonderful if you can find love, or a positive emotion, in the horrible situation they are in.
I adore Ruta Sepetys’ writing, she made me feel like I was there with Lina, that I was going through everything she was going through and the description of the places they are at made me picture a very clear image. And this was her debut novel! I can’t believe that to be honest, it is such an amazing book.
